Young people who are into social activism love humanitarian causes. Perhaps if the Church focused on its no-war/no-death penalty positions, and downplayed the sex and abo stuff, they might make in-roads.
Then again, social activism in the U.S. often (predominately?) consists of positions well to the right of the rest of the West.
