Katamari Democracy

So Hamas is doing the Chun Li "I win! I win!" dance. I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's entirely possible that from a realpolitik standpoint the last thing we want is true democracy in the Middle East. Sucks, huh?

It sort of boils down to the fact that ideally we'd want everybody to be a representative democracy/republic (like the U.S.) but exporting "representative democratic republicanism" doesn't have nearly the same ring as "DEMOCRACY!" So we simplify the message for easier transit.

Of course, in transit, it all sort of breaks down and regresses. Evne more so when we export it to one of the crappiest regions on the planet.

Even worse is that "DEMOCRACY" doesn't always objectively produce the *best* results. All it's guaranteed to produce are legitimate results. So I say, "Huzzah Palestinians for voting!"

Too bad you voted in terrorists.
