Nobody's gonna win

The latest results on Electoral-Vote.com aren't encouraging to Kerry, but they're not all that great for W either. The part of me that likes to live through great historical moments hopes this election actually goes to Congress for the final decision. The part of me that hates living in a 50/50 deadlocked nation hopes it doesn't.

Now wait a second, Kerry's still in the lead here, so it's more encouraging for him than it is for W. As for the calculator itself, they have presented you with a flase situation: states that are tied in the polls have not been included in electoral vote counts. The actual election doesn't work this way. Lord knows what would happen if any state were actually tied, but the chances of that happening are insanely low. All it takes is PA (of the three tied states) going to kerry for him to win. Florida, with more EVs than PA, would also do the trick. Bush, on the other hand, would need both of those states to take it.

And while it would be historically interesting to see Congress decide, can you imagine the hell of the next four years if that happened? Talk about governing without a mandate.
